Jack Wall

Ceist:

183 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Defence the position with regard to an application by a person (details supplied) in County Kildare to lease land from his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12394/00]

The position is that the land in question will be leased to the individual involved for a further period of 21 years subject to agreement as to the precise terms and conditions which will apply, including the amount of annual rent.

Ceist:

185 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Defence the plans he has for the future use of the site and buildings at Cavalry Row/Arbour Hill, Dublin 7. [12541/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 184 and 185 together.

The balance of Collins Barracks, Dublin 7 will be handed over to the Office of Public Works and the National Museum as soon as is practicable. A former married quarters at Arbour Hill, Dublin, is currently in the process of sale. There are no plans at present to dispose of any further properties in Dublin 7.

There are no plans to change the status of the site and buildings at Cavalry Row which are part of the St. Bricin's Hospital complex.

Ceist:

186 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Defence the position of an application by a school (details supplied) in County Kildare to his Department for access to their site; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12611/00]

I visited the site of the proposed school at Lumville, Curragh, County Kildare on 21 December 1999. I met with both political representatives and representatives of the board of management of Gaelscoil Chill Dara. I am advised that the Department of Education and Science proposes to consider the possibility of re-locating Gaelscoil Chill Dara to an alternative site in the former Army Barracks in Kildare town.
