Ceist:263 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Finance when a tax rebate will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; and if this rebate will be expedited. [13092/00]
Written Answers. - Tax Rebates.
I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that a statement of liability for the 1997-98 tax year, showing an overpayment of £3,314.51, issued to the taxpayer on 12 April 2000. However, the Inspector of Taxes is not yet in a position to determine the amount of tax, if any, to be refunded as the taxpayer has outstanding arrears of income tax and VAT for other years. The inspector is currently reviewing the taxpayer's tax liabilities and it is expected that the case will be finalised within the next three weeks.
