Vol. 518 No. 6

Written Answers. - Domestic Water Supply.

Jimmy Deenihan

Ceist:

380 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will provide grants for water filtration for those who qualify for a grant for the provision of a water supply to their house; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12600/00]

Subject to certain qualifying conditions, grants of up to £1,600 per house are available from local authorities for the provision or upgrading of domestic water supplies, including the provision of treatment and filtration equipment where this is considered necessary by the local authority concerned.

John Bruton

Ceist:

381 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will allocate money to Meath County Council to ensure that the water supply serving Slane is upgraded substantially in view of the fact that it is being turned off on a regular basis due to poor supply; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12668/00]

I understand that Meath County Council is investigating the feasibility of linking the Slane water supply to the east Meath water supply scheme. Any resulting proposals that may be submitted to my Department will be carefully considered.
