Vol. 518 No. 6

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Willie Penrose

Ceist:

531 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science if a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath will be called for interview for a temporary clerical officer position with his Department in view of the fact that she obtained a high marking in the examination but was unable to attend the interview on the appointed date due to a long-standing prior arrangement; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12412/00]

The interviews in question were organised by my Department on behalf of the Civil Service Commission to establish a panel of temporary clerical officers to fill positions in various Government Departments in the midlands region during the summer.

The Civil Service Commission advertised the positions on 17 February 2000 and the interviews were held on Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 April. The panel of successful applicants was established following the interviews and positions are currently being filled from this panel.

There are no plans to conduct further interviews for any applicant who did not present for interview on the fore-mentioned dates.
