Vol. 518 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Accommodation.

Deirdre Clune

Ceist:

563 Ms Clune asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress to date towards the opening of the primary school in Grange, Frankfield, County Cork; if this school will be operating in September 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12592/00]

My Department is planning to open a new primary school in temporary accommodation at Grange, Frankfield, in September 2000 subject to the satisfactory acquisition of a site for the school.

The property management section of the Office of Public Works is acting on behalf of my Department in relation to site acquisitions generally and is currently dealing with the site at Grange. As soon as the acquisition has been finalised, my Department will be in contact with the school authorities.

Jack Wall

Ceist:

564 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science the plans, if any, he has for the provision of a new school (details supplied) in County Kildare in view of the fact that the current school has no available land for development and there are problems in relation to access; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12636/00]

The long-term accommodation needs of the school in question are being assessed by my Department and when this process has been completed, further consideration will be given to the accommodation needs of the school.

Jack Wall

Ceist:

565 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science the position of an application for the provision of a new school (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12637/00]

My Department is examining options for the provision of permanent accommodation for the school in question. The school authorities are being kept informed of the position.
