Vol. 518 No. 6

Written Answers. - Educational Provision.

John Bruton

Ceist:

572 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if further to parliamentary Question No. 650 of 21 March 2000, he has any further information on the provision of second level education in Ratoath, County Meath. [12711/00]

The process of assessing the need for additional educational facilities, primary or post-primary in any given area, entails consideration by my Department of all relevant factors, including enrolment and demographic trends, housing developments and the capacity of existing schools in the area concerned to meet the demand for places.

Since my reply to parliamentary Question No. 650 on 21 March 2000 officials of the planning section of my Department have continued to accumulate data in relation to the need for a new post-primary school in Ratoath. When all the details concerned have been obtained and examined, a decision will be made on the appropriate means by which the post primary needs of the area should be met.
