Vol. 519 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Willie Penrose

Ceist:

117 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the steps, if any, he will take to ensure that the depopulation grant due to a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath is paid immediately in view of the fact it is over one year since these cattle were depopulated; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14639/00]

My Department is not in a position to process compensation entitlements in this case until the person concerned furnishes an up-to-date tax clearance certificate. The herdowner was supplied with form TC2 (application for tax clearance certificate) by the local district veterinary office (DVO) on 19th April 1999. To date the necessary certificate has not been received. I have asked the local DVO to forward him with another copy of form TC2. On receipt of same, all compensation due under the brucellosis eradication scheme will be processed for payment.

Ulick Burke

Ceist:

118 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason for the contradiction between the replies to Parliamentary Question Nos. 152 of 29 February 2000 and 247 of 28 March, 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14656/00]

There is no contradiction in the earlier replies. The names supplied by the Deputy were different in each of the parliamentary questions. My Department conducted its inquiries on the basis of the information supplied and I responded to the questions accordingly.
