Ivor Callely

Ceist:

214 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the likely date for announcement of successful projects under the current national lottery sports capital grants; if there is an official in his Department available to assist applicants to complete application forms; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16200/00]

Ceist:

216 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the total national lottery grants available from his Department in 2000; the likely total amount for the Dublin area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16204/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 214 and 216 together.

The sports capital programme for 2000 was widely advertised and over 1,600 applications were received by the closing date.

All applications are currently being evaluated against the programme's assessment criteria. These criteria and guidance on how to complete the application form were provided in the guidelines which accompanied the application form. On an occasional basis the Department assists in advising potential applicants on the completion of application forms. I intend to announce the 2000 grant allocations at the earliest possible date following completion of this assessment process under way in my Department.
Until the assessment has been completed it is not possible to indicate which projects in Dublin will be awarded grants under this year's programme. The total provision for the sports capital programme for 2000 is £15.2 million.
