Vol. 521 No. 1

Written Answers. - Sports Capital Programme.

John Perry

Ceist:

259 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if he will ensure that funding is made available for the erection of a community hall centre for use as a recreational facility at Abbeyquarter, Cranmore, County Sligo, in view of the fact it is a much needed facility to ensure that the growing young population are adequately catered for and will be an amenity for local public use; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16630/00]

Following an advertisement process, in excess of 1,600 applications were received under the 2000 sports capital programme.

An application for funding under the programme has been received from the organisation in question. This application, together with all other applications, is being evaluated against the programme's assessment criteria which are outlined in the guidelines which accompanied the application form.

I intend to announce the grant allocations at the earliest possible date following completion of this assessment process.
