Vol. 521 No. 1

Written Answers. - Health and Safety Authority.

Willie Penrose

Ceist:

46 Mr. Penrose asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to make a statement on the recent consultants report on the Health and Safety Authority; if it is intended to publish the report; and the changes, if any, planned arising from the report. [16513/00]

The matter to which the Deputy refers concerns a draft report which is being finalised by consultants engaged by the board of the Health and Safety Authority.

My understanding is that a finalised report is expected to be presented to the board very shortly. I have asked the chairman to arrange for the board to give its full consideration to the report at the earliest opportunity and to furnish me with its recommendations consequent on that consideration.

As the report was commissioned by, and will be submitted to, the board of the authority, and concerns matter which are essentially internal to the authority, the question of its publication or otherwise will be a matter for the board.
