48 Ms McManus asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if her Department and FÁS are considering proposals to send apprentices to a college in Wales in order to complete their training; the steps being taken to ensure that there are sufficient training opportunities for apprentices here; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I understand that FÁS has considered the possibility of sending a small number of apprentices to undertake one part of their training in Wales. However, at present it is not intended to proceed with this. FÁS is continuing to work with a range of training providers with a view to putting in place additional training capacity to address the backlogs that have arisen due to the unprecedented increase in apprentice registrations in recent years.
