58 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 224 of 28 January 1998, he will make a statement on the development programme for Killybegs Harbour, County Donegal, in which he stated he was seeking additional funding. [16765/00]
A £20 million funding programme for major development and upgrading of Killybegs Fisheries Harbour Centre was agreed in 1998 and remedial works at the existing pier are under way together with the programme to construct extensive new berthage facilities. The design and planning phase is being progressed including finalisation of the environmental impact statement for the proposed development, which will underpin applications for planning and other statutory permissions shortly. The major construction phase is planned to begin early next year.
