199 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will approve the housing plans submitted to his Department by Kilkenny Corporation in respect of a person (details supplied) in Kilkenny. [17530/00]
It is assumed the Deputy is referring to a proposed scheme of local authority houses at Patrick Street, Kilkenny. My Department recently received proposals for this project which are under consideration and the local authority will be notified of a decision shortly. The allocation of a tenancy to any particular individual is solely a matter for the local authority concerned, in this case, Kilkenny Corporation, and I have no function in deciding how it allocates its houses or in deciding who should be selected for a tenancy.
