Vol. 521 No. 4

Written Answers. - National Development Plan.

Denis Naughten

Ceist:

225 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the capital programmes contained in the national development plan and funded by her Department that have commenced in the constituency of Longford-Roscommon in 2000; the details of any such programmes; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [17554/00]

The National Monuments and Historic Properties, National Parks and Wildlife, Waterways, under the umbrella of Waterways Ireland, and the arts divisions of my Department will have a total expenditure of approximately £300 million under the National Development Plan 2000-2006. Detailed project schedules are being finalised at present under these programme areas so I am not yet in a position to provide comprehensive information as requested by the Deputy. I can, however, advise him that in the case of Waterways, which now operates as a cross-Border Implementation Body under the aegis of the North-South Ministerial Council, the expectation is that work will commence on the bridge replacement project at Pake Bridge near Ballymahon this year.
