Vol. 521 No. 6

Written Answers. - Intervention Stocks.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

74 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the total amount and value of intervention beef currently held by the EU; if these stocks could assist less well off countries where starvation and-or flooding is prevalent; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14042/00]

There are only minimal stocks of beef in intervention cold stores across the EU at present and these are already designated for distribution to social welfare recipients under the free food scheme.
