381 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the proposals for legislation being prepared under the auspices of his Department where heads have not yet been approved by the Government; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19590/00]

The following pro posals for legislation in respect of which heads have yet to be approved by Government are under preparation in my Department.

Proposed Bill

Purpose

Land Commission Bill

To regularise the position relating to land annuities and amend the Land Acts.

Agriculture Appeals Office Bill

To establish an independent appeals mechanism for all FEOGA schemes paying directly to farmers.

Legislation in relation to the practice of veterinary medicine and related activities.

To replace and update existing legislation regulating the veterinary profession and related activities.

Irish Horseracing Industry Act (1994) Amendment

Possible amendments to Act under consideration.

The heads of the following Bill have been approved by Government and drafting of the Bill is under way.

National Stud (Amendment) Bill

To amend the National Stud Acts to provide for an increase in the National Stud's share capital, borrowing powers and to empower the Minister to vest the National Stud lands in the National Stud Co. and other technical changes.
