Vol. 523 No. 1

Written Answers. - Pension Provisions.

Nora Owen

Ceist:

770 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs if his attention has been drawn to the fact that his replies to Parliamentary Question No. 432 of 10 May 2000 and 294 of 30 May 2000 did not quantify the financial loss to private sector occupational pension scheme early leavers by the decision not to grant a statutory right to preservation and revaluation of pension benefits earned in respect of pre 1991 service; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20139/00]

I would draw the Deputy's attention to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 115 of 22 June last in which I pointed out that the figure requested by the Deputy was not available.

I set out my position on this matter in the replies to the two earlier parliamentary questions to which the Deputy refers. I remain committed to giving legislative effect to the Pensions Board recommendations on preservation and revaluation in the forthcoming pensions Bill.

Question No. 771 taken with Question No. 109.

Question No. 772 taken with Question No 114.
