895 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will make the necessary finance available for the installation of closed circuit television cameras in the centre of Kilkenny city in the interest of public order and safety; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have been advised by the Garda authorities that no application has been received by the advisory committee, that was established by the Garda Commissioner to examine CCTV applications, for a Garda CCTV system in Kilkenny city.
All applications for Garda CCTV systems must be prepared in co-operation with the local Garda district and divisional officers and receive their full support. They may then be considered by the advisory committee which will make a recommendation to me in this regard.
