Vol. 523 No. 1

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

985 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science when his Department's inspectorate will contact the parents of a person (details supplied) in County Mayo to discuss the child's education needs as promised in May 2000. [19325/00]

In June of this year the local schools' inspector arranged a meeting involving the resource teacher, the class teacher and the parents of the child in question to discuss his educational needs. The child's mother declined to attend on that occasion. I have arranged for a member of my Department's inspectorate, who has a responsibility in the special education area, to contact the child's parents with a view to arranging a suitable date for a meeting to discuss the child's needs.
