Vol. 523 No. 1

Written Answers. - Departmental Investigations.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

1068 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science if, further to Parliamentary Questions No. 261 of 23 March 2000, No. 165 of 6 April 2000 and No. 277 of 20 June 2000, he will state when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be assessed as promised; and when Department officials will meet the person in view of the fact this request has been ongoing for several months. [20371/00]

As I indicated in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 277 of 20 June 2000, since the pupil in question will have commenced second level schooling in September 2000, he should be referred to the National Educational Psychological Service through his second level school. All second level schools have access to a designated psychologist from NEPS. This psychologist will also meet his teachers and parents to discuss his educational needs and remediation programme.
