1123 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Education and Science if extra additional hours of resource teaching will be made available to a person (details supplied) in County Sligo who has a learning difficulty and is now attending his local vocational school; if he will ensure that this person is integrated into the mainstream school system; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department has approved the allocation of additional teaching hours to cater for the needs of the pupil referred to by the Deputy. However, the authorities of the school in question have submitted an application for further resources for him. The application has been referred to the psychological service and, as soon as its report has been received and considered, my Department will advise the school authorities and the Deputy of the decision on the matter.
