198 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when a dedicated officer will be appointed to act as full-time suicide resource officer attached to the Garda Training Centre at Templemore, County Tipperary. [20772/00]
I am informed by the Garda authorities that, at present, an instructor at the Garda College is deployed, inter alia, in the delivery of suicide awareness training/education for the Garda Síochána.
I am also informed that a review of training requirements is currently being carried out by the director of training and quality service at the college who is considering the appointment of a full-time instructor to the social studies area with specific responsibility for all matters relating to suicidology.
