Vol. 523 No. 2

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Dan Neville

Ceist:

210 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Education and Science when he will sanction an extension to a community hall which is attached to a school (details supplied) in County Limerick as this is required due to the proximity of the community hall to the school. [20791/00]

My Department does not provide funding for community halls.

If the authorities of the school referred to by the Deputy wish to extend, at their own expense, a building used as a general purposes room, my Department will require full details of the proposals in order to determine to what extent, if any, it will impact on the normal operation of the school or on any possible future expansion of the school.

Dan Neville

Ceist:

211 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding the provision of an extension to a school (details supplied) in County Limerick in view of the fact that he stated in an Adjournment debate on 15 June 2000 that a technical inspection of the school building was carried out at that time and a report was being prepared; the way in which he plans to progress this as speedily as possible; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20792/00]

Architectural planning for the project referred to by the Deputy is under way. It is not possible to say, however, when construction will commence. The school authorities will be notified of progress as it happens.
