Vol. 523 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

135 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the number of applicants in each of the years 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000 that had a reduction in their headage or premia due to mistakes on their applications or other penalties; if he will give details nationally and by provinces; the number of applicants who had a monetary loss; and the number of these cases that were appealed. [20858/00]

In the time available it has not been possible to collate the data requested by the Deputy because of the large number of schemes involved and the extensive nature of his request. I will arrange to have the information relating to our main livestock headage and premium schemes sent to the Deputy as soon as possible.

It should be noted that the level of penalties applied is relatively small in comparison to the number of applications and that a large proportion of the penalties arise because of late submission of applications.
