Ceist:

161 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will provide resources to overcome the significant shortcomings which exist in the rehabilitation service for amputees in the mid-west region; and if his attention has been drawn to the fact that this is a particularly acute problem in those who are under 75 years of age and those who cannot get access to rehabilitation physiotherapy. The provision of rehabilitation services for people in the mid west region is the responsibility of the Mid-Western Health Board. My Department proposes to set up an expert committee, including health board representatives, to draw up a national strategy for the development of rehabilitation services. The services required in the mid-western region will be examined in this context.
