Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Gerard Reynolds – the need to immediately increase the free fuel allowance payment due to the increase in fuel costs; (2) Deputy Gay Mitchell – the delays of up to three years in having the occupational therapy unit of the Eastern Regional Health Authority assess the needs of disabled and elderly people; (3) Deputy Clune – the need for a statement on the works being carried out in Killarney National Park by Kerry County Council in conjunction with Dúchas; (4) Deputy Ring – the up-to-date position on a school (details supplied) in County Mayo; (5) Deputy McGinley – the failure of the Department of Education and Science to provide school transport for a wheelchair bound pupil (details supplied) in County Donegal; (6) Deputy Connaughton – the problems concerning the back to education allowance scheme for mature students; (7) Deputy Neville – the statement by a High Court judge in relation to the welfare of disturbed children; (8) Deputy Upton – the urgent need for the re-opening of the Mount Street creche; (9) Deputy Kenny – the recommended phase out and closure of the breast cancer unit at Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar; (10) Deputy McGennis – the problems caused for school crossing attendants who are being denied unemployment benefit during the summer period; (11) Deputy Owen – the circumstances surrounding the absconding of a 14 and a 15 year old youth and the locking up of staff during this incident in Oberstown Centre, Lusk, County Dublin; (12) Deputy Gilmore – the implications of last Friday's High Court decision regarding taxi licences; (13) Deputy Breeda Moynihan-Cronin – the need to extend the concessions currently available to disabled drivers to post-polio victims; (14) Deputy McGrath – the need to provide training and vocational opportunities for young entrants into farming; (15) Deputy Seán Ryan – the urgent need for additional gardaí and resources for Swords, Balbriggan and Malahide Garda stations; (16) Deputy Stanton – the imminent sale of the State oil refinery at Whitegate and other assets of the INPC; (17) Deputy Wall – the need for an adequate number of testers available to ensure against delays in driving tests; and (18) Deputy Gormley – the need to review the level of fines for companies who fail to comply with the terms of a licence for the remediation of contaminated sites.

The matters raised by Deputies Neville, McGrath, Breeda Moynihan-Cronin and Clune have been selected for discussion.
