Vol. 524 No. 5

Written Answers. - Special Footwear.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

353 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason for the delay in providing special medical attention to a person (details supplied) in County Carlow who requires special footwear and has not received an acknowledgement from the South-Eastern Health Board; and if he will investigate the complaint and arrange for an official of the South Eastern Health Board to contact the person concerned to arrange immediate action. [23287/00]

The provision of aids and appliances to persons with a physical or sensory disability is the responsibility of the relevant health board. Accordingly, I have referred the Deputy's question to the chief executive officer of the South Eastern Health Board, with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy, as a matter of urgency.
