422 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the amount of money available from her Department in the current year for roadworks in the Gaeltacht areas; the breakdown of the distribution of these moneys on a county by county and project by project basis; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [23001/00]
I assume the Deputy is referring to the additional funding secured by my Department this year – over the duration of the national development plan – for the improvement of strategic roads in the Gaeltacht. As a result of this additional funding my Department has this year embarked on a seven year plan, the objective of which, when completed, is having one good road of suitable standard into every Gaeltacht area. I am supplying a table to the Deputy which indicates the amounts sanctioned on a county by county and project by project basis this year.
This funding is in addition to the funding provided under Scéim na mBóithre Áise for the improvement of access roads, bog roads and village renewal projects in Gaeltacht areas. The following moneys have been allocated under this scheme this year:
