Vol. 524 No. 5

Written Answers. - National Parks.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Ceist:

423 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands her views on whether her Department has complied with existing regulations and requirements in Killarney National Park in relation to (i) construction of dams on the Tally stream and destruction of Reen wet woodland, (ii) construction of a 7.5 acre lagoon in the Bog Field, Reen and (iii) the construction of three lagoons in Muckross estate on two acres; if she has satisfied herself that her Department has fulfilled its role as protector and guardian of the park; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [23002/00]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to an Adjournment debate on Killarney National Park in the Dáil on 18 October 2000 in which I dealt in detail with the issues raised in her question.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Ceist:

424 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the reason a meeting arranged between an official (details supplied) in her Department and a number of people in Killarney regarding the Killarney National Park has been cancelled; when it is proposed to reconvene this meeting; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [23003/00]

The date suggested by the Killarney-based group for the meeting with the official in question clashed with prior engagements to which he was committed. Accordingly, the meeting was rescheduled for today, 24 October in Killarney.

My officials are willing to have meetings with individuals or groups at mutually agreeable times and places.
