Vol. 524 No. 5

Written Answers. - Naturalisation Applications.

Brendan Howlin

Ceist:

443 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if, further to his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 283 of 7 December 1999, he will indicate the reason a decision on the naturalisation application of a person (details supplied) has not been made to date; when a decision will be made in this case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23056/00]

Applications for citizenship are dealt with in chronological order as this method is deemed to be the fairest to all applicants.

The application for a certificate of naturalisation in respect of the person referred to by the Deputy is in the final stages of the process. I expect to be in a position to advise both the applicant and the Deputy of my decision in the near future.
