Vol. 524 No. 5

Written Answers. - Special Needs Assistants.

Eamon Gilmore

Ceist:

481 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received a report from his Department's inspectorate regarding an application from Archbishop McQuaid junior national school, Loughlinstown, County Dublin, for a special needs assistant for the junior infant class; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that a pupil with special needs has been enrolled in that class since September 2000 and that no provision has been made for a special needs assistant; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23030/00]

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that my Department recently sanctioned special needs assistant support for the pupil in question.
