Vol. 525 No. 3

Written Answers. - Detergent Products.

Ivan Yates

Ceist:

247 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if the targets set out in December 1999 in relation to the phasing out of zero-phosphate products have been met in relation to the agreement between the Irish Detergents and Allied Products Association and his Department; and, if not, the reason they have not been met. [24886/00]

The voluntary agreement with the Irish Detergents and Allied Products Association provides for an incremental move to zero-phosphate domestic laundry detergent products by IDAPA members with targets of 55% by 30 June 2000; 90% by 31 December 200; and 95% by 31 December 2002.

I understand the target set for 30 June 2000 was achieved. I am awaiting audited sales data in this from IDAPA. The agreement requires IDAPA to furnish these data to my Department within six months of each of the target dates.
