133 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs when one parent family allowance payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare who is separated since July 1997, has four dependant children, and no income; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25373/00]
The person concerned applied for one-parent family payment on 13 October 1998. The claim was refused on the basis that sufficient efforts were not made to obtain maintenance from the spouse. Following the submission of documentary evidence from the person concerned, the case is currently being re-examined by a local officer of my Department. On completion of all the necessary inquiries an early decision will be made and the person concerned will be notified of the outcome without delay.
