The person named in this case included commonage in his 1999 area aid application but did not provide proof of his entitlement to a share of the commonage. The person named has recently provided proof of his entitlement to the commonage for 1999 and 2000. The 1999 area aid application has been cleared and any payments due will issue in the near future.

Ceist:217 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a 100% penalty has been invoked by his Department on a person (details supplied) in County Sligo regarding their application for area aid 2000. [26815/00]
The person named submitted his area aid application after the 28 April 2000 closing date. Late applications incurring daily penalties were accepted up to 23 May 2000. As the application form for the person named was not received until 25 May 2000 a 100% penalty was applied in accordance with the EU regulations.
However, if the person named wishes to have the matter re-examined he should make a formal request to the area aid unit accompanied by the relevant postal certificate.
