247 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will report on the application of an organisation (details supplied) for a site at Merlin Park to build a respite unit; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26343/00]
The provision of respite care services at Merlin Park, Galway is a matter for the Western Health Board.
The board has informed my Department that it has received an application from the Western Alzheimer Foundation in regard to a site on the grounds of Merlin Park Hospital to build a respite unit. This application is currently under consideration and a decision on it will be made within a short time.
