Vol. 526 No. 3

Written Answers. - Mobility Allowance.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

273 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will review the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who was refused mobility allowance in view of the fact that this person is disabled, his wife has serious medical problems, the couple live in a very rural location and their joint income is only £160 per week; and if the decision can be appealed and the outcome reversed. [26711/00]

The assessment of entitlement to a mobility allowance in any individual case is a matter for the relevant health board. Accordingly, I have referred the Deputy's question to the chief executive officer, South Eastern Health Board, with a request that he examine the query and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
