306 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the plans he has to introduce electronic or computerised voting in national elections; the form such a new style of voting would take; if the recent experience of problems in such a voting system in the USA has any relevance; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I refer to the reply to Question No. 133 of 8 November 2000. I am not aware of any problems in the presidential election in the US involving electronic voting sys tems which have relevance for systems currently under consideration in my Department. However, I will keep the matter under review.
