Vol. 526 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Austin Deasy

Ceist:

111 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the structural condition of St. Nicholas's secondary school, Ring, Dungarvan, County Waterford; and if he will arrange to have temporary repairs carried out immediately to give a reasonable degree of comfort to the pupils and staff until such a time as the new permanent school is erected. [26469/00]

Meánscoil San Nioclás in Ring is under the management of County Waterford vocational education committee. The architectural planning of a new school to cater for a long-term projected enrolment of 100 students has progressed to stage 3, developed sketch scheme.

County Waterford vocational education committee has not sought funding from my Department to carry out improvement works pending the completion of the new school. However, my Department will consider the question of funding any essential works required at the school on receipt of an application from County Waterford vocational education committee.
