Vol. 526 No. 3

Written Answers. - Visa Applications.

Seán Haughey

Ceist:

171 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the reason the Irish consulate in Istanbul, Turkey will not accept an application for a holiday visa from a Turkish citizen (details supplied) until February 2001, even though he wishes to visit Ireland for Christmas 2000; if he will intervene in this case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26426/00]

Neither the Irish Embassy in Ankara nor the Irish Consulate in Istanbul has any record or recollection of the person named by the Deputy presenting a visa application nor of an application from that person being presented in recent weeks. Neither mission would ever refuse to accept an application. If the Deputy can supply further details, I may be able to assist him.
