44 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the total acreage planted in forestry in 2000; the way in which this compares with the previous five years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27172/00]
It is estimated that 15,000 hectares of afforestation will be grant aided by my Department in 2000. The level of afforestation which was grant aided in the previous five years is as follows: 1995 – 23710 ha; 1996 – 20981 ha; 1997 – 11403 ha; 1998 – 12926 ha; 1999 – 12667 ha.
