Vol. 526 No. 6

Written Answers. - Aviation Bill.

Liam Lawlor

Ceist:

168 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if, following the recent meeting with a local group (details supplied) which is opposed to the proposed use of Baldonnel Aerodrome, County Dublin for civil aviation purposes, she will confirm that the Government is agreeable to delete section 46 of the Aviation Bill and that there is no intention to change the current status of Baldonnel as a military airfield or to develop civil aviation there for the foreseeable future. [27444/00]

At my meeting with the Baldonnel liaison group on the 11 October last I undertook to reflect on the issue of section 46 of the Aviation Regulation Bill, 2000. This remains my position.

Any change in the status of Baldonnel is of course a matter for my colleague the Minister for Defence who owns the facility.
