I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Creed – the proposed extension to St. Mary's secondary school, Macroom; (2) Deputy Keaveney – the need to take action to tackle the unemployment problem in the north west region in view of the recent announcement of another closure at Fruit of the Loom; (3) Deputy Coveney – the need to set up an independent living fund for those with disabilities who are reliant on personal assistants for a quality of life; (4) Deputy McGinley – the failure of the Department of Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands to provide the funding to complete renovation works on Doe Castle, County Donegal; (5) Deputy McManus – the industrial dispute involving clerical workers in the three areas of the Eastern Regional Health Authority; (6) Deputy Olivia Mitchell – the urgent need for clarification of the compensation arrangements for taxi drivers and of the local authorities who will have to repay licence money; (7) Deputy Ulick Burke – the urgent need to review the criteria for entrance to community employment schemes; (8) Deputy Seán Ryan – the urgent need for additional gardaí and resources for Swords, Balbriggan and Malahide Garda stations; (9) Deputy Aylward – provision of an autism centre at Ionad Follain, known locally as "The Glebe", Myshall in County Carlow; (10) Deputy Owen – the case of a person (details supplied) who is already blind in one eye and partially blind in the other eye due to delays in receiving treatment for cataracts; (11) Deputy Neville – the need to restrict paracetamol products to pharmacies; (12) Deputy Power – the remarks by Mr. Justice Windle, "that the Irish peace-keeping effort in the Middle East is a farce" as this is offensive to the thousands of members of the Irish Defence Forces serving abroad; (13) Deputy Breeda Moynihan-Cronin – the need for work to commence on a new amalgamated national school for Rathmore, County Kerry; (14) Deputy Howlin – the need for an investigation into the circumstances in which seven Pakistani businessmen, who had visas and other necessary documentation, were refused entry at Dublin Airport on Friday last and held in prison over the weekend, and the need for a review of immigration procedures at Dublin Airport in the light of this incident; (15) Deputy Belton – the matter of the future of St. Joseph's secondary school, Newtownforbes, County Longford; and, (16) Deputy Timmins – the failure of the Government to address the increasing number of applicants on the housing waiting list.
