Ceist:189 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason for the delay in the payment of headage to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [27209/00]

The 2000 area aid application for the person named was selected for inspection in accordance with EU regulations. The results of this inspection will be returned to the area aid unit within the next week and when received will be processed without delay. It will then be possible to process for payment his application under the 2000 cattle headage scheme.
The person named also submitted an application under the 2000 suckler cow premium scheme. However, as he does not hold a suckler cow quota he is not entitled to any grants under this scheme in accordance with clause 12(c) of the terms and conditions of the 2000 suckler cow premium scheme.
