Vol. 526 No. 6

Written Answers. - Property Ownership.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

192 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a property (details supplied) in County Mayo is still listed in the Land Registry Office as leasehold when the owners paid a sum in the 1960s to make it freehold. [27295/00]

The lands in question were the subject of a grant from the ecclesiastical commissioners dated 9 December 1841, subject to a perpetual rent. The Land Commission as successor in title became full owner of the property in December 1959.

My Department has been in contact with representatives of the person named and the Land Registry office in an attempt to resolve the problem. No record can be found in my Department of the payment referred to by the Deputy.
