228 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Finance the number of taxpayers who sought tax credits by virtue of rent paid to a private landlord in the tax year 1999/2000; and if he will give these figures under the categories of single, widowed and married persons. [27506/00]
I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the numbers of claimants for tax relief in respect of rent paid for private rented accommodation are shown in the table in respect of the income tax year 1999-2000. Separate figures are shown in respect of claimants aged under 55 and over 55.
