Vol. 526 No. 6

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Michael Finucane

Ceist:

263 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Limerick will be called for a cataract operation in view of the fact she is over 80 years of age and her sight is rapidly deteriorating; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27346/00]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons in County Limerick is, in this instance, the statutory responsibility of the Mid-Western Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply directly to him.

John Perry

Ceist:

264 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will intervene on behalf of a person (details supplied) in County Sligo and have her MRI/brain scan appointment in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin 9, brought forward to January 2001 to ensure that she is properly diagnosed in view of the fact that she is on heavy medication and has recently adopted children; if he will make a favourable decision in view of the extenuating circumstances that exist; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27351/00]

The provision of medical services in this case is the responsibility of the Eastern Regional Health Authority in the first instance. My Department has asked the regional executive officer to investigate this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.
