Vol. 526 No. 6

Written Answers. - Hospital Doctors.

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

274 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health and Children the proposals he has to grant approval for the appointment of a fourth consultant ENT surgeon at Waterford Regional Hospital as applied for by the South Eastern Health Board to reduce the present waiting time for outpatient appointments; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27439/00]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons is, in this instance, the statutory responsibility of the South Eastern Health Board. The board has submitted an application for approval of the post of an ENT consultant at Waterford Regional Hospital. This post will be considered in the context of the board's overall priorities and the development of funding available for 2001.
