Vol. 526 No. 6

Written Answers. - Health Board Services.

Paul McGrath

Ceist:

277 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Health and Children if an application for £500,000 has been received in his Department from the Midland Health Board to enable that health board meet the additional costs for heating oil and vehicle fuel; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that if this money is not made available, then services will have to be curtailed with obvious cut-backs for the sick and elderly; and if this money will be forthcoming from his Department. [27484/00]

I understand from the Midland Health Board that while fuel and oil costs have risen, the costs can be met by the board from within existing resources and that service levels will not be affected. My Department has not received an application for £500,000 from the Midland Health Board in relation to these costs.
