Ceist:

140 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will define the socio-economic breakdown of students attending Waterford Institute of Technology for the year 1999-2000; the number of full time students at the Institute in receipt of grants for the period 1999-2000, excluding day release students if they are included in the count of full time students; the breakdown of these grants in respect of higher education grant, vocational educational committee and others; the percentage breakdown of students attending the Institute on a county basis for the same period; and the number of full time male and female students per department. [27884/00]

The socio-economic background data for third-level students attending institutes of technology for the 1999-2000 academic year is available in respect of new entrants only.

The following table shows details of the socio-economic background of new entrants to Waterford Institute of Technology, in respect of the 1999-2000 academic year; the number, and percentage breakdown, of students attending the Institute on a county basis for the same period; the number of full time students by gender and discipline; the number of full time students in receipt of grants for the period 1999-2000, including the breakdown of these grants by scheme.
