148 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for Education and Science the current position on the building project at Scoileanna Eoin Baiste, Dundalk, County Louth; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27934/00]

The long-term accommodation needs of Scoil Eoin Baiste, Dundalk, County Louth, are being assessed by my Department and when this process has been completed, the matter will be progressed further.

The school authorities will be kept informed of developments.

149 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for Education and Science the current position on the building project at St. Ita's school, Crushrod Avenue, Drogheda, County Louth; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27935/00]

Architectural planning for the provision of improved accommodation at St. Ita's school is proceeding as quickly as possible, having regard to the large number of school building projects on hand within my Department.

The school's design team was recently requested to prepare tender documentation for the works involved. Every effort will be made to advance this project to construction stage as soon as possible.

Minister for Education and Science (Dr. Woods): I am pleased to inform the Deputy that my Department is committed in principle to the complete redevelopment of Ardee community school. The process of appointing a design team to commence the architectural planning process has begun and it is expected that a full design team will be in place shortly.
